Humble beginnings.
In the early 1980s, three brothers worked their way through New York City kitchens, starting with washing dishes. In 1983, they finally opened a small, hole-in-the-wall chicken shop of their own. That was the beginning of Mama’s Fried Chicken.
A new name. Same dedication.
The family later took the business to New Jersey, where it became Georgia Fried Chicken. For more than three decades, they built their reputation around hot, fresh fried chicken and homemade breakfast, learning and refining the craft along the way.
Back to Mama’s.
As the next generation stepped forward, so did the name that started it all. Mama’s Fried Chicken Co. is a return to our roots, bringing years of family experience to Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Who is
“Mama”?
The name is a tribute to the woman whose strength, warmth, and cooking helped shape our family.
Our late Mama was widowed and raised eight children on her own in a one-bedroom apartment. Life wasn't easy, but her kitchen was always a place of comfort and love.
That spirit is what we want you to feel at Mama’s. Not just a quick meal, but the care and welcome you’d find around a family table.
